Broad Function:

The Pre-Registration Representative is responsible for completing the pre-registration for all scheduled inpatient and outpatient admissions both efficiently and accurately while creating a positive first impression on the patient experience.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Pre-register patients by gathering pertinent patient information such a demographic and insurance information.
  • Ability to review and interpret third party billing and payer data.
  • Reviews and reconciles schedules daily while meeting or exceeding all daily, weekly and monthly established productivity goals.
  • Interviews patients and responsible parties, obtaining accurate and complete personal and insurance data.
  • Demonstrates personal accountability by performing to established standards for productivity and quality.
  • Maintains necessary lists and records, and provides data to appropriate units as required.
  • Contacts physician offices to obtain insurance information or authorization information when required.
  • Contacts employers and insurance carriers to verify insurance coverage and eligibility.
  • Responds to patient and office requests appropriately.
  • Provides highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Communicates and works effectively with colleagues from other departments and physician offices.
  • Coordinates with the Financial Counselor all self-pay and Medicare only patients in advance of the scheduled admission.
  • Maintains appointments and schedules patients for various tests according to established guidelines.
  • Ability to report on site as requested to assist with department functions and for training purposes as requested by department leadership.
  • Performs other duties as related or assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience in a hospital business office setting required.
  • Effective customer relation skills, ability to organize and interpret data.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and related software.
  • Six month rolling productivity requirement equal to 95% or above. Must have AHIQA score of A.

 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.10 – $20.26 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
