Biography
Dr. Candace Scruggs grew up in Massena, NY, and spent many years shadowing her father, Dr. Carl R. Scruggs, who is a general dentist. She attended the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, receiving her DDS degree in 2007. She completed a four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2011. She then returned to her upstate NY roots and joined the practice of Dr. Paul Karpinski in 2013. Dr. Scruggs is trained in full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, pathology, implants, bone-grafting procedures, anesthesia and facial trauma. She is married to Dr. Jon Ohnezeit who is a general dentist in Auburn, NY. Together they have two children, Grace and George. Dr. Scruggs enjoys spending time with her family, playing soccer, cooking, traveling and sports.
