(Auburn, NY) – Auburn Community Hospital is proud to welcome Dr. Christopher Scibelli, a nationally recognized surgeon and U.S. Navy veteran, as the newest member of the Auburn Heart & Vascular Institute.
Dr. Scibelli brings decades of surgical expertise, including distinguished service at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, and with the Fleet Marine Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His military background has prepared him to perform with precision and confidence, even under demanding and high-pressure circumstances.
As a member of Fleet Surgical Team 8, Dr. Scibelli served aboard amphibious assault ships as part of a specialized naval medical unit providing surgical care in dynamic, mission-critical environments.
He was forward deployed both at sea and on land in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and the Global War on Terror. After completing his military service, Dr. Scibelli returned to the Finger Lakes region, where he has been caring for patients and contributing to the local medical community since 2015.
“This unique opportunity to develop vascular surgery capability at Auburn Community Hospital is the culmination of my past 18 years in the field. I am excited to offer vascular surgical care tailored to each patient’s unique clinical situation. This is my objective, always,” said Dr. Scibelli.
A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Scibelli earned the distinct honor of being named “Trauma Resident of the Year” while working within the Christiana Care Health Services system.

“Auburn Community Hospital provides patients with world-class care in a community-based setting. Having Dr. Scibelli on staff strengthens our existing team of highly respected surgeons, hard-working nurses, and dedicated support personnel. This addition to our growing team solidifies Auburn Community Hospital’s stellar reputation of providing high-quality care to the patients we serve,” said Auburn Community Hospital President and CEO Mr. Scott Berlucchi.
A Canandaigua resident, Dr. Scibelli calls the Finger Lakes region home along with his wife Amy Lynn, daughter Katherine, and son Evan.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Scibelli to our expanding team of highly specialized surgeons at Auburn Community Hospital. Right now, we provide quality care for families across the Finger Lakes Region. Adding a surgeon of his caliber and expertise is a huge plus not only for ACH, but for the region as a whole,” said Auburn Community Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jamie Syrett.
