To provide compassionate, comprehensive women’s health care for the Finger Lakes community.

Obstetrical Services

Auburn Memorial Hospital offers quality, individualized care for pregnancy, labor and delivery for healthy, low risk women. We work in collaboration with prenatal care.

There is 24/7 epidural service available to all eligible patients. This service is provided by the Anesthesia Department. The nursing staff is capable of assisting all of our scheduled and unscheduled cesarean section on the unit. Several nurses are ACLS certified. No patient will have to leave the unit for this surgical procedure.

All of our breast feeding mothers are offered a consultation by our lactation consultant.

A tour of the hospital’s unit may be arranged with the expectant parents, if desired, by reservation only. Please call 315-255-7381 to make a reservation.

The Birthing Center

The Birthing Center located at Auburn Memorial Hospital is a special setting that promotes family bonding and independence by delivering babies in a “home like” atmosphere. It is “the next best thing to delivering at home, yet you have the comfort of the knowledge of experienced nurses and physicians with you.” The Birthing Center is recommended only for mother’s that are capable of caring for their infant from birth. The mother and father care for the infant the entire stay; the baby is not sent to the newborn nursery. To be eligible to use The Birthing Center, you must have a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy.

Birthing Center Visiting Hours
12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m
The Birthing Center at Auburn Memorial Hospital is a SECURED UNIT.  Siblings of the newborn are invited to visit, but, they must be accompanied by an adult other than the labor coach and delivering mother.

The Birthing Center also provides regularly scheduled classes.

Childbirth Education
Having a baby is a very special event. To help you prepare for the birth experience Auburn Memorial Hospital offers a variety of educational programs. These programs are designed to prepare you physically and mentally for childbirth and parenting, and to acquaint you with our staff and facilities. Nationally certified childbirth educators, IBCLC certified lactation consultants and registered nurses experienced in the field of obstetrics teach the classes. For more information or to register for any of the classes below, please call 315-255-7381.

How To Register
For any of the classes listed, please call 315-255-7381 to register. You will receive a letter confirming your enrollment. If a class is full, you will be notified by phone and given alternative dates. Early registration is recommended, as class sizes are limited.

You and your children should attend the class in the last two months before birth.
