Auburn Memorial Hospital Begins Emergence from Chapter 11

Auburn, NY — Auburn Memorial Hospital, Inc. (“AMH”) submitted a proposed Joint Plan of Reorganization and Disclosure Statement (“Plan”) to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of New York (“Court”) today. The hospital filed a voluntary petition for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in April 2007.

Rehabilitation after Knee Surgery Can Be (Almost) Fun!

Auburn Memorial Hospital opened the Finger Lakes Center for Living (FLCL) in 1995 primarily as a long-term, skilled nursing facility, although short-term rehabilitation has always been part of its mission. In recent months, however, rehabilitation services have has been expanded.

It’s a twist on summer camp for kids interested in health care. M.A.S.H. Camp (Medical Academy of Science and Health) is for junior high students who want to spend two days in the real world of health care. On July 8 and 9, 2008, Auburn Memorial Hospital (AMH) will host its fourth annual M.A.S.H. Camp.

Reclast Annual Infusions for Osteoporosis Now Offered at AMH

April 18, 2008

A new service for patients with osteoporosis in now available at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Reclast, a biphosphonate which can be infused intravenously once a year in as little as 15 minutes, is now offered by the Hospital with a physician’s prescription.

Ribbon-Cutting Launches Digital Mammography in Auburn

Auburn Memorial Hospital has expanded its health and wellness services for women with the addition of a new full-field digital mammography system. On October 25, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio and Assemblyman Gary Finch joined officials and staff from Auburn Memorial Hospital to cut the ribbon officially launching state-of-the-art digital mammography in Auburn. Senator Nozzolio, an ardent supporter and advocate for increasing healthcare services at AMH, secured a $500,000 state grant that was used to purchase the new unit.

Friends Plan Plus-Size Garage Sale After Undergoing Weight Loss Surgery Together

Mary Rand and Michelle (Shelly) Sennett are both long-time employees of Auburn Memorial Hospital. They have been friends for many years. And they have something else in common — both are determined to lose weight — a lot of weight!

When the Fingerlakes Weight-Loss Program started at the hospital, both women started thinking about the possibility of having bariatric surgery. “In May, I went to one of the information sessions by Dr. Carl Weiss,” Mary recalls. “Shelly had to work. I sat way in the back of the auditorium behind 25 or 30 other people, by myself. And I took two info packets when I left. I called Shelly the next day and told her: ‘We’re going to do this!’ And she agreed, so that got the ball rolling.”

AMH Plastic Surgeon Aims to be a “Chameleon of the Community”

Guillermo Quetell, M.D., F.A.C.S., who has joined the Medical Staff at Auburn Memorial Hospital, says that his goal is to be a “chameleon of the community in which I work.” This means that his practice is molded to match the needs of the community. His wide range of services includes breast reconstruction, breast reduction, breast augmentation, body contouring (i.e. after weight loss), liposuction, otoplasy, rhinoplasty, cosmetic procedures, skin lesion removal, botox injections, filler injections, and hand and peripheral nerve surgery. Residents of the Finger Lakes Center for Living (FLCL), an acute care nursing and rehabilitation facility which is an adjunct of Auburn Memorial Hospital (AMH), recently received new beds and mattresses. Many staff members worked together to make it a smooth transition.
