February 27, 2008 Dr. Lance Peters Joins Auburn Memorial Hospital

Lance Peters, M.D., has joined the Medical Staff of Auburn Memorial Hospital and the staff of Auburn Orthopaedic Specialists, a practice owned and managed by the Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Peters has been in practice since 2001 in Binghamton and then Ithaca, NY. Dr. Peters completed his undergraduate education in biological engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, and then earned his M.D. degree in New York City at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University where he won the T. Campbell Thomas Award for Excellence in Orthopaedics. He remained in New York City to complete a 4-year training program in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and then pursued a unique 2-year Clinical Fellowship in Biomedical Engineering and Adult Reconstructive Surgery. The Fellowship was partially funded by the NIH and was a joint program between the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Peters specializes in joint replacement of the hip and knee and has a particular interest in complex and revision surgery (joint replacements that need to be re-done). He also practices general orthopaedics including treatment of fractures, sports injuries, and non-operative management of arthritis.
