January 30, 2008 David R. Smith, Eric R. Allyn Elected as Chairman and Vice Chairman of Auburn Memorial Board: Peter J. Emerson, Joseph P. Bartolotta Elected as Trustees

At today’s annual meeting of the Auburn Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, the Board elected as its Chairman David R. Smith, Vice President-General Manager of Nucor Steel-Auburn. Eric R. Allyn, Vice President, International Business Development & Branding at Welch Allyn, Inc. of Skaneateles Falls was elected Vice Chairman. Karen E. Lockwood, Branch Services Manager of AmeriCU Credit Union, Auburn, was re-elected Treasurer and Gail S. Homick, Executive Director of United Way of Cayuga County, was re-elected Secretary. Mr. Smith, who has 25 years of experience in the steel industry, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is active in the community with organizations such as United Way, Habitat for Humanity and The Blueprint for our Region’s Future and the Upstate Regional Alliance. He and his wife Marsha reside in Skaneateles with their three children. He replaces Robert K. Bergan, who served for two one-year terms as Board Chairman. Mr. Allyn, who holds a B.A. degree from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia, has worked with Welch Allyn since 1982 and is a member of the Welch Allyn Executive Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Allyn Foundation and the New York State Hospital Review & Planning Board. He was a Founding Member of the Auburn Hospital System Foundation Board from 2001 to 2005. He and his wife, Margaret O’Connell, reside in Skaneateles with their three children. He replaces Elane Daly as Vice Chairman. Newly elected as Trustees were Peter J. Emerson, Director and Past President of the Fred L. Emerson Foundation, Inc.; and Joseph P. Bartolotta, Senior Associate with Gilberti Stinziano Heintz & Smith, P.C. in Syracuse, NY. Each was elected to a three-year term. They are replacing Paul Hickey and Nancy Karpinski as Trustees. Mr. Emerson earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Stanford University, CA., and an M.B.A. degree at the University of Virginia. He served as Executive Vice President and Director at Dunn & McCarthy, Inc. until 1988, and is now retired. He serves as Honorary Director and Past President of Cayuga County Community College Foundation; Director and Treasurer of Musical Theatre Festival, Inc.; Director and Secretary of the Stardust Foundation of Central NY; Advisory Board member of the Stardust Institute for Entrepreneurship; and member of the focus group Blueprint for Our Region’s Future. He lives in Auburn with his wife Linda. Mr. Bartolotta earned a Bachelor’s degree at the University of NY at Albany and a J.D. degree from Michigan State University College of Law. Prior to attending law school, he worked in the office of NY State Senator Michael Nozzolio in Albany, serving as Legislative Director. He is a member of the NY State Bar Association, the Onondaga County Bar Association, and the City of Auburn Zoning Board of Appeals. He is committed to being an active member of his local community and resides in Auburn. Elected to third terms on the Board of Trustees were David M. White, M.D.; and Gail S. Homick. Elane Daly, representing Cayuga County, will serve a third year term. Dr. John Riccio, newly elected President of the AMH Medical Staff, will assume the position on the Board formerly held by Dr. Saul Rosenblum. In the financial report, an operational gain of $1 million was reported for 2007. To date, January volume is ahead of budget, it was reported by John Baran, CFO. |
